How resilient are you?
I was working in particular place a couple years ago and after just been in that department for six weeks something went wrong. I found myself in situation were the team was against me and my manager was talking about performance review despite being in the department for only a short period of time. I remember leaving my manager’s office and just going walking down the road and asking myself why everyone was against me. The world felt very lonely at that moment as I walked down the road not knowing where I was going. I paused for a moment and I asked myself what I would do despite what was happening right now, I asked myself what has brought me to where I am today? Resilience was the answer, never giving up even when everything was going against me. Not for the first time in my life I found myself in a situation were not given up was the only option that was available to me and I wet back to do what I did best. A few months later people still did not like me and I had to leave the department but I had not fallen apart because I was resilient.
There are times in our lives when we will discover that not giving up is the only option that will be available to us. It is important to note that there are a lot of things in this world that we cannot control. We cannot control what life throws at us but we can determine what our response is going to be. A lot of people want things to be easy but life does not work that way. In everything I do I know that it is being resilient that has brought me this far. There a lot of talented people who could be doing great things but they are not because they gave up the moment things got difficult. The one thing that we need if we are going to be successful is staying power in everything that we do. The one thing that all the successful and the overcomers have in common is staying power when things are difficult.
