Forget everything you know

Did you know that the majority of things we know have been imposed upon us by our environment? A few days ago I was reflecting on my life and I started looking at certain parts of my childhood and how they are influencing me today. I realised that a lot of the things I thought I taught myself were taught to me by other people. I started looking at the church I went to, how I like my food made and more importantly how I think. A lot of us have been programmed to think a certain way since we were children and we don’t even realise it, we think we have our own thoughts but they are not. For a long time I would say I wonder what mum would say or do in this situation, I was not thinking I was remembering. George Barnard Shaw once said “I got rich by thinking twice a week but the problem with a lot of people is that they do not think at all.”

The best way to transform your life and your business is to forget everything you know, a few weeks ago I bought a note pad and starting writing down every new thing I had learnt that day. I decided to look at everyday work problems like a new problem that I had never dealt with before. Here is what I realised, when I looked at every situation like I never dealt with it before I found the solution all the time and when I remembered dealing with the problem I did not find a solution if I couldn’t find a solution to, I could find a solution to it again. This got me wondering what my life would be like if I looked at every situation like I never seen it before, within a week I started seeing significant changes. I then realised that a lot of people and businesses are been held back because of what they know. I suggest that whatever you believe about your life, your relationship, your job and your businesses look at with a different pair of eyes and you marvel at how great your life is and how much possibility is out there for you. Hold on to the things that you have already learnt that make you successful and happy and let go of the things that are holding you back.
