One step at a time

FrankA lot of people walk around wishing they could change their life and what they are doing at the moment and after trying for a few weeks they give up on that new change. After reading Les Brown’s book “you can live your dreams” I decided I was going to be a motivational speaker and I started making plans and taking actions to be a motivational speaker. Just one problem, no one knew who I was so whenever I contacted an organisation and asked to speak the first question they asked was who are you? No, they did not want to know my name they wanted to know what work I was known for. One problem, I was not known by anyone at all, I went through disappointment after disappointment and I thought of giving up. Then somebody said you join a toastmasters club so I did, I then realised that I was not ready to be a master because I was not even a student yet. I started learning one new thing about speaking everyday, not five or ten just one. I would analyse that one thing and find ways I can improve it. Very soon i started seeing the changes in my speaking skills, listening to my Facebook videos from 2015 and comparing them with my recent videos I can spot the difference. They are a lot better now because I took time to develop one thing at time.

This experience taught me that everything can be improved by making one small change at the time. If you think you are not performing to the best of your abilities the first thing you need to do is look at one small improvement you need to make that day. You must just focus on adding 1% extra every day, in five days this will be 5% in a month that would 20% and in a year you would be 240% better than you are. I know somebody is thinking “come on Frank it is not that easy”, yes it is that easy. We spend so much time of our times not learning the things we need to learn in order to develop in the thing we want to be doing. Changing your life is not difficult as a lot of people make it out to be, you just need to make a small change everyday. Small changes will make your goals believable and if something is believable it becomes achievable
